One of the earliest machines assembled, it produces the lubricant needed for gearboxes, CVT and some engines. It is also needed for the production of netherrack dust and tar (from Soul Sand), both used in the fractionation unit to produce jet fuel.

It is a very effective early game ore multiplier, tripling most ores.

Rotarycraft Handbook DescriptionEdit

"The grinder does exactly what its name suggests - it grinds things. Stone to cobblestone, cobble to gravel, gravel to sand, that sort of thing. It also plays a critical role in lubrication of gearboxes - it grinds the canola seeds into an oil usable as lubricant. This machine's operational speed goes up as the input speed does.

Power SpecificationsEdit

Required Power

Duration of Operation FormulaEdit

Time(in ticks) = 900 - 60 × log₂ (speed + 1)

Time(in sec) = Time(in ticks) / 20

Tips & TricksEdit

  • Lubricant can be syphoned off by placing a bucket into the provided slot on the GUI, which will automatically fill it, or by attaching an RC lubricant pipe which will transfer the lubricant into attached reservoir without redstone signal needed. Mod pipes also work.
  • Engine powering the grinder can be turned on/off based on presence of grindable items in inventory if you're using buildcraft gates.
  • Automating output/input of solid items works well with Pneumatic Item Pump and Steve's Factory Manager.
  • The Grinder outputs a signal of 15 with a comparator if it cannot process the items within, allowing you to turn off the engine supplying the power, for more efficient setups.
  • Triples Ore.
  • This machine gets much more effective with higher rad/s while still fulfilling the torque requirement.
  • The simplest way to power this machine is with a single Steam Engine and a Wood 4:1 Gearbox. This will provide enough torque and power to run a grinder, it is a bit slow though (24s/operation).
